Go Hiroshima!
Two weeks ago I attended my first (and last, because I'm off soon!) baseball game. Baseball is THE sport in Japan, and so I felt that I need to see a game to fully complete my Japan experience. As my nearest big city is Hiroshima, I decided to become a Hiroshima Carp fan for the day and watch them play Yokohama Baystars on a really sunny and hot saturday afternoon. Kat, Ellen, Marko (and pal), and I spent a great afternoon soaking up the electric atmosphere in the stadium, trying to keep cool, joining in with the chants and claps, chatting and gossiping, drinking icy cold beer...oh yeah, and we watched a bit of the game too! We didn't really understand the rules, but we still got into the game, and showed our love and support for our guys in red when we realised we had just scored! In the end, we lost to those pesky Yokohama players...but hey ho, it was still a fab afternoon, and a great chance to be a part of Japanese popular culture.
