Tokyo – the pilgrimage is complete!

I know, I know…it is a bit sad. But I really love 'Lost in Translation, and so was eager to see some of the spots where it was filmed. We got to the New York Bar on our first night, and enjoyed the cocktails in all its splendid luxury. There was just one more place I had my sights set on….the karaoke place where Bill sings ‘More than this’, and Scarlett gazes into his eyes whilst wearing a pink wig! After a quick google search before I set off for Tokyo, I had the name and the area of the karaoke place they used, and after asking at our restaurant (Asian Kitchen) that night for directions, we found it with no problems! In fact, it was just across the street from us in Shibuya! I wasn’t expecting to get the same grand room that the movie features…complete with large windows and view out onto lit-up, sparkling Shibuya…and so I wasn’t disappointed when they put us in a tiny windowless room! After all, there was only the 2 of us, and therefore we didn’t need a big room (although it would’ve been great!). The room was still quirky though, with weird luminous sci-fi images projected onto the walls when the music began, and a great selection of songs. It was Zeenat’s first karaoke session, and I think she enjoyed it, as we attempted to belt out some R&B gems! A fun night, and fabulous to be in the place where such a great movie moment was captured.
