Weekend report
This weekend I headed to our prefecture's capital, Yamaguchi city, to celebrate Miss Potter's birthday! Friday night was spent eating yummy crusty bread, fish-cakes with chilli sauce, avocado and raw tuna salad (not bad, Alex, not bad!), gyoza, pino, hobnobs, and home-made truffles. Nice! We chilled out, chatted, watched a DVD, and took the mick out of the birthday girl on more than one occasion!! Saturday was our day of sightseeing (pagoda, church, cool-wave-building-thingy), and shopping (I am officially addicted to Muji!)...and of course, more food!! A lovely bakery for lunch, and Jolly Pasta for dinner with about 15 people turning up to help Alex celebrate! Delish pasta, garlic toast and caesar salad, followed by a slice of Rosie's home-made birthday cake for Potter-san. Then a quick dash (or car-ride!) down the street for purikura and bowling! Yesterday, Alex, Dabs, Ellen and I had a lazy morning, before a wonderful cafe lunch, where Alex could enjoy the ...erm...decor!! ;) It was a really nice weekend, and great to meet up with people I hadn't seen for a while. Thanks for organising it all Alex! See you in Yanai soon.
p.s And yes, we did just mostly eat this weekend!!!

In Japan there are 2 poses for photographs...the cute, super-genki peace sign, or the standing to attention with a serious-no-hint-of-a-smile face. We always go for the first, as we are generally happy, cheerful people here in Yamaguchi. But on saturday we decided to see what it was like to be on the side...to experience a serious, sombre, expressionless pose! I prefer the peace sign!

Exploring around the temple and five-storey pagoda. Glad to see they're wrapped up for winter!

Ellen and I braved one of the steaming hot foot onsens (hot-springs) in Yuda. Here, I look unhappy and scared at just how hot it was. But actually, I quite liked it. It was kinda cool to see my feet and ankles turn bright pink, and afterwards my feet felt amazing!

Yey! Spring is coming! Whooohooo! The plum-blossom buds are out, and that bit of pink means just one thing...warmer weather and less gloomy skies are coming! I love Spring!

And the birthday girl herself! All together now "For she's a jolly good fellow, for she's..." I've never seen Alex look so embarrassed, but chuffed all at once! Hope you had a good night mi dear!
