“Very sad!”
Yesterday was my final class with 1-2 and 1-5, two of my favourite classes. I made a short speech to thank them for being fun, nice students, and wished them luck for their second year. During my speech, when some of the students had understood it was their last lesson with me, one of the boys shouted out ‘very sad, very sad!’, which made me smile, and also blush a little! They all gave me a round of applause when I had finished. I took some photos of the class at the end (although trying to get them to form a group, was an almost impossible task…as they just milled around daydreaming!). The full class photo is 1-5 (amazingly bright kids…a smaller group than my other classes….and the easiest class I have ever taught…it never felt like a struggle or a chore). The small-group shots are some kids from 1-2 (the class that I was actually a little bit intimidated by when they first arrived, as they’re sooo loud, don’t really pay attention, and I have to raise my voice a lot in lessons….but in the end I grew to love em!....noisy…but funny, spirited, original, and interesting characters!) At the end of their class, some of the boys came to tell me they would miss me, as they listed what they like about me ; my hair, my eye (yeah, just the one!), my forehead, my nose, my clothes, my earrings, my body….then one boy paused and said in perfect English “you see, you are perfect!”…and they all cheered! Haha! They also said I was a good teacher, and enjoyed my classes….so that’s good!!!! Quite an emotional 2 lessons, and I have realised that I am going to be a wreck in July, when I actually leave!!
