Picky
This is the third friday in a row, that a lovely teacher who sits near me at my commercial high school, has given me a great big bag of kaki (persimmons). She's so sweet, and in the past has given me an array of fruits, snacks, and sweets. But, I just don't really like persimmons! Of course I greeted the gift this morning, with my normal 'sugoi' at the amount of fruit in the bag, and closely followed by a lot of thank you-s and head-bowing. But, all I was really thinking was, "why can't it be mikan!!" God, how terrible is that. I'm given a gift...for doing nothing...and all i can think of is what I would rather have...that, and the fact that its a really heavy bag, and Ive got to carry it home later! I'm guessing that they are coming from a tree in her garden, and so I now have evil hopes that her tree will die soon....or at least reach the end of its time this year for bearing fruit. In good-food news, however, another teacher (who has just returned from a trip to Canada), presented me with a cute little bottle of maple syrup this morning. Yum! Think I might have to make some pancakes this weekend!

I TOTALLY understand about the kaki.....I used to have a tree and I was kind of happy when they cut it down :)
