Fun Saturday!
Yesterday was fun! I spent the whole afternoon and evening with Kat, and I really had a lovely day! It was just one of those days when you hang out with someone, chat, have a giggle, enjoy your weekend, and of course sing karaoke!! After a lovely pasta lunch round at hers, accompanied by Black Books, and Heat magazine, we headed into town for a small spot of shopping and purikura! Our attempts to find a J-pop compilation CD failed (does anyone know if such a thing exists?...like a NOW 45 type album…but for J-pop?), but I was pleased that I finally managed to find some nice sunglasses. I have been wearing a 100yen shop pair for the last month, and so I was pretty desperate to find some new (not expensive, but not 100yen!) sunnies! Good ole MacHouse! After an ice-cream stop at SevenEleven, we skipped (well, not actually skipped, but you know…I was excited, cos it’s karaoke!) off to karaoke at our favourite place, ‘Party’. Afternoon karaoke is always fun, and although it was weird to have a whole room just for the 2 of us, we had a great 2 hours trying out some new songs, and perfecting old favourites! Highlights of the afternoon, were ‘Be Our Guest’ (from Beauty and the Beast!!!), ‘Don’t Let Me Get Me’ (Pink), and a wonderful set of Linkin Park, Muse, and Evanescence.....It’s funny the things that Kat and I sound good on singing together! We also attempted a whole range of J-pop songs, including the mighty Orange Range and Asian Kung Fu Generation!!...There was definite potential for a couple of them (with some more afternoon practise sessions!)…but others were just impossible. I can read hiragana, but not at the speed of some of those tunes! But hey…we tried! I’m always a bit giddy at karaoke, and so after the giant lime chuhais that Kat and I ordered at 4 in the afternoon!! (she made me do it, she made me do it!!!!!..I blame it all on Kat!!....actually …that’s a lie…the conversation was ; Kat – ooh, shall we order chuhais? Me – But it’s only 4 o’clock! Kat – Shall we? Me – Ok, I’ll call them!), I was feeling even more silly and giggly than usual!
We headed back to Kat’s, where we drank another chuhai, and played a couple of Kat’s famous card games! It was really fun, but one of the games was really fast…and Kat was really good…so I got a bit stressed, and screamed a few expletives every time she won! In the evening, we went back into town, and met up with Aaron and Ellen for a wonderful yakiniku! Amazing as always, and this time accompanied by lemon chuhai, which tastes of even more chemicals than the lime one!
I had a really nice day, I think because it just all felt so normal. There was no chasing round, train journeys, sightseeing, getting lost, getting tired! I love my weekends when I go new places, and see new things, don’t get me wrong. But it was just so nice to spend time with a friend, having fun, chilling out, and generally just enjoying a normal Saturday afternoon in our little town.

yes I've noticed the need for loz to be 'forced' to drink alcohol, go into shoe shops, sing and eat yaki niku. I think it's a magnetic force.
