The Last Day
Today is the last day of term! Yey!! I have another fifteen minutes before my three weeks of ‘apartment / Yanai / cultural’ leave begin! We had the school ‘Closing Ceremony’ this morning, to mark the end of the school year, and this time I actually understood some of the things that were said! Admittedly, that was because my lovely head of English was standing next to me, and very kindly translated the speeches that were made, and the different awards that were handed out. However, I was able to understand a few more Japanese words that were said, than in January! But still…thanks to Kodama-sensei for making it all become crystal clear! A couple of my students were given awards for 100% attendance at school, and I found myself beaming proudly when their names were read out! I think I’m definitely meant to be a teacher…either that, or a parent!!! After all the pomp and ceremony, after a million bows, and some sprinkled applause, it was finally over! I thought today I would find out some details about my new teaching schedule in April ; i.e who am I teaching with?..Is the moron still going to be around, adding frustration and general anger to my teaching life?...But none of my questions have been answered! I have asked, but people just keep fobbing me off with “decide soon.” Oh well, what’s meant to be will be. I feel like, even in the worst case scenario for next year (moron still in 2 key roles in my JET life), I will try to make the most of things, and rise to whatever challenge lies ahead. Right, I’m off now….My spring break begins….NOW!!
