Let the search for a cheap flight begin!
Today I was officially officially officially given the go ahead, to have time off in August to come back to England. I was told this a week or 2 ago as well…but Japan loves its bureaucracy, and after my supervisor had spoken to about a million other people, today he told me they had also said it was ok. I think I have to take the whole time as ‘unpaid’ leave, which is bad because, it means a hell of a lot less money in the month of August. But, it also means that I can save my paid leave for holidays and whatnot in Asia. So, pros and cons, as with anything in life! However, now the biggest hurdle is ahead of me…..trying to find a CHEAP flight! This is…..(play the theme music!)…MISSION IMPOSSIBLE!! I’m hoping to come home around 6/7/8th Aug…and return to Japan 26/27th Aug….a lovely 3 weeks in Blighty, away from humid old Japan! At the moment the cheapest flight I’ve found is with Singapore Airlines….and I could also have an optional free stopover in Singapore…Ooh the temptation! I’m only allowed to do that though, if I don’t go to Thailand in Golden Week! Don’t be greedy Lauren! I think I’m going to wait a couple more months before I start compiling a list of all the stuff I want to do, things I want to eat, programmes I want to watch, shops I want to hit!...But top of my mental list already is a ……BACON SANDWICH!! Oh, how I miss you!

Lauren- consider yourself very lucky. I asked about unpaid leave and they laughed at me. They said "use up your nenkyu and then come talk to us"....I don:t exactly want to use it all up one month after i get it so looks like i:m not going home....I hope you have a wondeful time though! And good luck on the cheap flight

i went home around the same time last year and used korean air. i ended up paying 185,000en...i feel your pain, wish i could recommend a cheap website for you, but i couldn't find any. only advice is leave from fukuoka, unless you save about 40,000 by flying from osaka instead. its really not worth the hassle of dragging luggage up there and the shinkansen cost.
ps don't they have bacon in yanai??
